AI Policy

Last updated 27 April 2026

The short version:

Hey Monika is a training platform. Monika is an AI. She can get things wrong. Nothing on this platform is professional accounting or tax advice, please always verify what Monika tells you before using it in real life. If something doesn’t look right, let us know.

What Hey Monika is (and isn’t)

Hey Monika is a simulation-based learning platform for accountants and bookkeepers. It gives you hands-on experience of real workplace scenarios — including working with AI-powered fake clients and getting support from Monika, your AI learning mentor.

It is a training tool. It is not:

•  a firm of accountants or bookkeepers

•  a source of professional accounting, tax or financial advice

•  a replacement for your professional judgement or a qualified adviser

•  a regulatory body or awarding organisation

Monika is an AI — here’s what that means

Monika is powered by artificial intelligence. She’s been designed to help you learn, answer technical questions and guide you through scenarios. We’ve worked hard to make her accurate. But AI isn’t perfect. Like all AI systems, Monika can sometimes:

•  give an answer that sounds confident but isn’t correct (this is sometimes called “hallucination”)

•  give information that is out of date, for example if tax rules or thresholds have recently changed

•  give an answer that is generally correct but doesn’t apply to your specific circumstances

•  miss important nuance or context that a human adviser would pick up

This doesn’t make Monika less useful as a learning tool — it’s just important that you know her limitations and treat her accordingly.

Always verify what you learn here

Before applying anything you’ve learned on Hey Monika to a real client or employer situation, please check it against authoritative sources. Good places to start:

• HMRC  — for UK tax rules, rates and guidance

• AAT  — Association of Accounting Technicians

• ICB — Institute of Certified Bookkeepers

• ACCA — Association of Chartered Certified Accountants

• ICAEW — Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales

If you’re ever unsure about something in a real client situation, speak to a qualified professional. Hey Monika is here to build your confidence — not to replace professional judgement.

The clients are fictional

The clients you interact with in Hey Monika’s scenarios — like Adele, Celena, Fred, and the others — are entirely made up. Their businesses, financial information, documents and personal details are invented purely for training purposes. They do not represent real people or real businesses.

Any resemblance to actual persons, businesses or financial situations is coincidental.

How AI is used internally at The Bookkeeper Training Academy

We use AI to support us in building training scenarios and challenges for you. Claude (Anthropic) and ChatGPT (Open AI) are the tools we use at the time of writing and this policy will be updated to reflect changes. Claude and ChatGPT are used to make a first pass and all content is verified, edited and refined by qualified team members before it becomes part of a challenge or scenario.

All challenges and scenarios go through a two stage quality assurance process before publication.

Our liability to you

We take the accuracy of Hey Monika’s content seriously and we’re always working to improve it. However:

•  This includes (but is not limited to) any errors in AI-generated content, any information that is out of date, or any guidance that does not apply to your specific circumstances.

•  Nothing in this disclaimer affects your statutory rights under UK consumer law, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
